• In Windows Terminal, go to Settings
  • Startup: Default Profile should be PowerShell
  • Go to the PowerShell profile, in Appearance set the Font face to Cascadia Mono PL so that the posh modules display properly
  • Go to the Windows PowerShell profile, scroll down in the General tab and toggle to Hide profile from dropdown

• Install NodeJS LTS
  • Add C:\Program Files\nodejs\node_modules\npm\bin (npm) to the system (or at least user) %PATH%

Linux, Cross-Platform, WSL

wsl --install should be enough with newer versions of Windows.

Manual installation

• Enable WSL Feature Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -NoRestart -All -FeatureName Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux
• Enable Virtual Machine Platform Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -NoRestart -All -FeatureName VirtualMachinePlatform
• Restart

Configure WSL:

wsl --set-default-version 2 wsl --update wsl --shutdown

Install a Distro. Get a list of available options:

wsl --list --online or wsl -l -o

Then install from Windows Store or wsl --install -d <distro> e.g. wsl --install -d Ubuntu-20.04

Configure WSL

It's a good idea to set global limits on WSL memory usage and CPU usage

Save and exit.

Configure Git on WSL
